When I was ready to buy seeds this year I was chatting w Jackel and he sent me to Dr Greenthumbs. Browsing their catalogue I couldn't resist the (so-called) "G-13 DD's Cut" they were offering for $100 a bean. (Since renamed and reduced to 3 seeds for $200. I ordered 6 they sent me nine.) Just for the record Jackel did not full endorse my selection.
Anyway, I germinated 6, gave 2 away and planted the 4 a couple weeks ago in the garden outside.
They are all hearty and growing like crazy. Very much the same, so a consistent phenotype physically.
I've started a total of 10 clones from low shoots and I'll let you know how they do.
Here are some photos...
As I said, I've trimmed low branches for clones and also clipped the center shoot to keep it lower and bushier.
You can see the stem structure. The nodes are pretty closely spaced and really seem to want to bush out.
From above. I started them in these tomato cages. I may add a wider cage of mesh fence later to support the limbs.
