the reason is because critters like it too. most organics are made with blood n bone meal, fish and other nasty yet tasty smelling things to critters. they like to dig up ur plants looking for that "dead fish that has to be in here somewhere".

well use the directions on the back. most brands will have a feeding chart on there website or something. generally start off with a few 100 ppm, like 500. then ramp it up to 12-1400 or so when plants are old enuff

good call jackel, idk why i didnt think of that lol. i remember the last time i used blood meal which was only once i got maggots in my soil and never used it again but happy frog ive never had any bug problems with it. Just certain organic ingredients are more attractive to the critters I suppose. My humboldt nutes say to use non-chlorinated water and they also use reverse osmosis water so be careful with what u mix. Most brands have feed charts on there website but if ur using regular tap water let it sit for 24 hours before u mix anything and dont over do it. For instance use the "moderate" feed program and not the "heavy" feed program like they use with the reverse osmosis because u could wind up burning them very easily.

i have well water as well, there a problem with the water softener though. I dont know if that has anything to do with anything. Maybe that why i have prroblems with cloning and germination rates this year. is there a way to test the quality of your water?

u can contact a local water treatment place and u can send them a sample (bring it to them) and they can test it. you may want to get a ph and ppm meter and test the water. that will tell you a lot too.
