its not mulch but thats not a bad idea, that would save me alot trips for watering em  ill see wut i can come up with i might just break up sum tree bark thats as good as mulch right? i dont think ne thing other than deer will be a problem in my location, that and turkeys, one year a gang of turkeys actually hoped over the fence of my garden and did sum major damage. i know it was turkeys to cuz i chased em off

i have a problem with my 5 gal bucket not draining. i just transplanted my biggest od clone in it a couple days ago and it rained alot since then and when i went to check on it today there was about 3 inches of water over the top of the soil so i tilted it over and let the excess water run off. and the hole i dug and set it in was full of water to so i pulled it out of the hole and set it on level ground. but i was wonderin if i put a good layer of mulch over the soil will that help contain the water problem? if i put enough it might soak up a good emount of water before it goes down to the soil right?

maybe im not picturing whats going on properly, im a little high, but it seems to me like mulch would make your problem worse. adding an inch or two of mulch would kinda be like adding an inch or two of soil that doesnt let water evaporate. yeah, it should soak up the water first, but once that is saturated, the water will continue into the soil. then the mulch wont let it back up again. i think finding a way to fix the drainage issue is more worth your effort.

well the problem is my plant is already potted in there so its a little late to do ne thing now. once the plant gits going tho it should be able to drink a good amount of the water if we git excessive rain i guess ill just have to make a trip to make sure everythings ok. but ne way this plant is now about 4 ft tall :O it grew a good 1-2 ft right before i repotted it bcuz it got alot of rain and it was a in a dinky pot so it used every oz of it!

oh, so its the soil itself not draining, not a problem with the pot. i was thinking you could just cut a couple few more holes in the bottom put the pot on a different surface that would allow more drainage, but if the water isnt actually reaching the bottom, that wont help.

oo it reaches the bottom it just takes a little more time, and i had it sittin in a hole that i had dug in the ground and that hole was collecting water as well so really the water had nowhere to drain. but i have it in a 5 gal bucket it probly could use a couple more drainage holes other than in the bottom but its kinda hard puttin holes in a half inch of plastic, ill just have to take a knife to it or sumthin but ill git sum pics of my od plants tommorow

hehe. well thats the way i do it, on my own.

i dont think the bucket is gonna need ne more holes tho, i cracked the bottom of it in 3 with a gardening tool so i think the drainage will be good. only time i have to worry is when we git alot of rain.

just a quick update on my closet grow. all the branches r falling over they have sum very nice long colorful buds on em! ill be harvesting this saturday which will be 52 days of flowering, the extra few days arent going to be necessary theyve already reached sum pretty impressive potential :D i cant wait to see how the outdoor tree is gonna do!!

got a box all set up for drying, i have 4 fishin string tied across the top, one for each plant. just had to post bcuz this week is gonna be killing me lol. i look over and see all those killer buds its enough to git me excited. ive really noticed ALOT of growth in the past few days it seems like everyday they gain more weight and more of the branches fall over, but now none of them can stand too much weight on em

ill post pics sumtime this week and then again after i harvest and git it all trimmed up. wish me luck!! this stuff is gonna be sum KILL!!!
