Looking to buy a light

Postby miller09 » Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:54 pm

So I am a 1st time grower and looking to get a HPS/MH lighting system. I have been looking around but some of the ones i have been looking at have been way over priced. I am looking at a 400w set up to use a 4'x4' grow tent. I was thinking of running 4 x 4inch fans to keep a good air flow. any help that any one give would be great. thank you to everyone to take the time to read. :D

400watt digital will be around 200 bucks.
I would spend the extra money and get an Air cool hood, and run your vent tube to the air cooled hood. this will eliminate most of your heat.
If you are having to skimp on your setup, you are best waiting till you have the money. Or you will have failures.

jackel thanks for the info. is 400W too much for a 4x4 area? or should i drop down to 2 150 set ups? also with the two in two out would that be too much air flow? I want to do it right the 1st time and not make any kind of mistakes. better to pick the brain of someone who knows what they are doing than make a costly mistake.

thanks

400 is fine for the area.
as for ventilation, you are better off running a single 6inch fan hooked up to the wall, sucking fresh air from outside, through your hood (air cooled hood) and back outside. this will pull the heat off your bulb and you will be able to control the temps better. u can look up "sealed rooms" setups for a better idea.

Try with the available light source,
HPS 400w is good,
Just maintain the distance from the light and plant should be 30 to 40 cm,, maintain the temperature and humidity...
you will get a better yield
