Hydro-Couple First Timer Questions

Postby LACED WIT GAME » Wed Apr 07, 2010 7:02 am

so me and a buddy of mine are in the blueprint of conducting an indoor hydro grow.
i have everything i need, except a few questions.

as of right now were a lil short on cash (in this state, who isnt lol).

now ive been reading around and ive noticed on a few other forums that folks have had success growing using CFL lights. ive looked around for those and found the bulbs for fairly cheap (approx $15-$30).
now my buddy is hell bent on using these as they save energy and theyre fairly cheaper (compared to MH or HPS).

my question is this, if i were to put 2 150w CFL (real 150w, not the equivelant BS) & one 200w MH

what type of yield should i expect, considering we'll be letting our plants top out at approx. 3 1/2 ft? considering we'll be growing about 2 plants.

will that lighting even be adequate?

CFL vrs HPS and MH

To be honest I spent days researching lights. I have a small grow area, 3'x 4'x 8' and a concern of to much heat building up in the small area, I went w/ 85watt/350watt, 6500k, 4200 lumens CFLs. Actually the four I am using have done an excellent job. I just received 4 more to use in combination with the other 4. The new ones are 105watt/400watt, 3000k, 7000 lumen. Eight CFLs so if you ask me, I am saved by not building an exhaust system, save on keeping the area at about 74 degrees, save the large utility usage and cost. So I beleive CFLs are the way to go in cost as well as performance. I have been impressed with. The last set I bought cost about $32.00 a piece, so they are nat as cheap as you might think.
Regarding how much Gonja you can get? Who knows. Keep me posted on your indoor hydro grow. 8)

well first i have to ask, what all do u have for ur setup then? because lights are some of the most important pieces to this puzzle. i would say save up and get an hps.

Why do not you try the led lights. Those are one of the best for your setup. Just choose according to the requirements and you will get success for sure.
new hydroponics equipment are the best
